Top 5 Summer Activities for Kids

Summer is just around the corner and we are so excited! Soon the kids will be home from school every day and you will have a lot of time with them. At times it may seem like a daunting task to keep them entertained. You may even hear the phrase “I’m bored” a time or two. So often kids end up in front of the TV watching endlessly or playing video games. So, we decided to make another list of our Top 5 Favorite Things. This week we will share our Top 5 Summer Activities for Kids!

1. Water – Anything that involves water!
For those of you that live by a beach, GO THERE! You are so lucky to be able to take your kids to such a beautiful and fun place. For those of us that are not near an ocean, we have options too! Swimming is always an all time favorite for all kids whether is it at a public pool or an inflatable kiddie pool. Water gun or water balloon fights are always a hit. One of my favorite activities while growing up was running in the sprinklers. The grass gets watered and the kids have fun!
2. Scavenger Hunts/ Collecting items
Send them on a hunt to find as many different bugs as they can for their bug collection. Make an adventure out of rock collecting and painting them afterward. Create a treasure hunt with clues. The possibilities are endless. Things like this will keep the kids entertained for hours on end!
3. Visit Your Local State Parks or Venues
We got a family pass to the zoo this year! Baby M loves to see all of the animals. It is a fun experience for the whole family. Plus, I get a little work out from all the walking. Go for a family hike. Enjoy nature and the great outdoors.
4. KITES!
I cannot tell you how much I loved flying kites as a kid. Check your 10 day forecast and choose a windy day. You can pick up a very inexpensive kite and have an unforgettable experience.
5. Arts and Crafts
Visit your local craft store and check out the kids section. There are so many fun things to make! I used to do a weekly craft day with my nephew and we never ran out of things to do. His favorite craft day was when we made our own bouncy balls. We also had a really great time making our own personalized shirts. You and the kids will have a great time and you will have art and projects to treasure forever.
