Cooper’s Star Wars Bedroom

I love decorating kid’s rooms.  It’s so much more fun than tackling my own.  Cooper wanted a Star Wars room.  I think we did a great job mixing my style with his.

Bed: My husband built the bed, painted the trim white and stained the rest black.   There is storage under the bed and cupboards built in. The bedding and pillow are both from Ikea.

Floor:  We didn’t have the budget to add wood floor (like we wanted), so we decided to paint the sub floor.  We have done this with a couple rooms in the house and I love how it looks.  There are several tutorials on youtube about painting subfloor.  Here’s an example: subfloor painting.

Floating Shelves:  I love the modern look of floating shelves.  They are sleek and fairly simple if you have the tools.  Again, there are several youtube tutorials on floating shelves.

Wall: The wall stickers are from Urban Wall Decals.  I have used them several times and they are super easy to install.  Urban Walls has so many different designs to use from.  Cooper wanted triangles.  Plus, its pretty inexpensive – only $35 per sheet.  We needed 2 sheets for this wall.  They offer 10% off that price for following them on facebook.

Pictures:  Cooper specifically requested this Darth Vader poster that used to belong to his dad.  I also went on etsy and fell in love with these other painted prints from Aswego
I chose my 3 favorites, but there are many others to choose from.

Storage:  He has 2 closets, so plenty of storage, but I wanted some colorful bins to kids his toys.  Ikea always seems to have fun colorful ones!

Lighting: My favorite part about this room is that Cooper has a switch next the his bed.  He reads every night. My husband installed track lighting around the crown molding. He also had an ugly brown ceiling fan that we painted white.
