This is our first autumn in San Diego, and I have to say it is a little bit different than all the 30 years of autumn that I experienced in Utah. I’m missing the fall colors on the mountains, the crisp fall air, the boots, the scarves, etc. But, I think that the sunshine, ocean, and palm trees are just the right kind of therapy to cure my homesickness. Haha. So, to get into the feeling of fall, we are breaking out the crafts! Here are a few fun favorites that she has made so far:
Fingerprint Fall Leaves
This one was simple and fun. Draw the shape of a tree on a plain piece of paper. Then, let your child use finger paints to stamp on their finger prints in orange, yellow and green to make the different colored leaves.
Paper Bag Pumpkin
Another one that is really easy! Get out your paper lunch sacks. Fill one with another crumpled up sack. Tie it closed with ribbon or string. Then, let your little one paint their pumpkin!
Paper Plate Black Cat
This is a craft with more of a Halloween theme. All you need is a paper plate, google eyes, a pom pom, pipe cleaner, glitter glue, and glue. Just paint the paper plate, cut out some triangles out of black paper for the ears, then glue on google eyes, a pom pom for the nose, pipe cleaner for whiskers, and draw a little mouth with glitter glue.
There are some more ideas on Pinterest that I still want to try. Here are a few of our favorites.
It’s no secret that we love Hedgehogs. So, we just have to try this one!
