We asked Erika, owner and designer for mikodesign to share her history, inspirations, and favorites with our readers. Here is what she had to say:

What made you want to start mikodesign?

I have always been creative and making drawings and sweing on my grandmothers old Singer and after art school and having my kids I really enjoyed making them clothes, softies and more. At the same time I started blogging and learing to screenprint my own designs and this resulted in an Etsy shop that grew into my brand Mikodesign.

What sets your products apart from others?

All the products are handmade and made of my own designed fabric wich makes them unique and give them a fresh and simple look.

How did mikodesign get it’s name?

The name mikodesign came from the word miko it has a positive feeling and sounds good in a lot of languages and I wanted a name that would not only be suitable for children products.

What are your inspirations and motivations?

Art, nature and my two girls are my inspiration, I love crafting, drawing and playing with them and that way we come up with new designs, the I love paris doll was the result of the Paris themed birthday party for My daughters 7th birthday, she wanted to have a paris themed party, she wanted a paris outfit and a doll with the same outfit.

What do you have coming up for mikodeisgn that you are excited about?

I just designed my first fabric by the metre that will be availible in september and a renewed website will be launched than as well.
