BoysBeCool
We have been on the hunt for awesome Kid’s Fashion Blogs to learn from and pass along to all of our followers. We don’t claim to be know-it-alls when it comes to fashion and are always on the look out for resources to follow the trends and be fashion forward. Along this journey, we are finding some really great blogs that will be a great resource for all of you as well. When we feature these blogs for you, it won’t just be a link share. We will tell you a little about the blog and why we love it, then we are going to interview the blog authors, after all, they are the fashion experts.

The first blog that we couldn’t wait to share with all of you is Boys Be Cool! Boys Be Cool is a style and shopping resource helping parents dress their boys like stars on a tight budget. From dressy to casual, BBC covers it All with sales, new trends and boys’ clothing lines, giveaways, reviews and more.

The Author of Boys Be Cool is Julia Angel. Julia, Publisher & Everything Else, an international business development exec and a wanderlust queen in her former life, had been blessed with the opportunities to travel, experience different cultures, live in different and exciting places. Driven around the world by her insatiable wanderlust and curiosity she had learnt to absorb and embrace different styles and fashion choices blending and melting them into her very own cosmopolitan style, where everything was possible. She applies this crazy mix to styling her son’s Tyler Max aka Pookie the Incredible outfits . When unable to satisfy her style cravings in the boys’ fashion department on a tight budget she had set out on her Boys Be Cool style crusade with an ambitious goal to change the bleak landscape of the boys’ fashion. She shares her valuable skills and thrifty fashionista’s resources with other parents who believe that boys and style are not mutually exclusive.Naturally, she strives to maintain her reputation as the most beautiful and the best dressed mommy in the world (her son’s opinion) and doubles as the Style Maven in the adult world. She regularly disperses gleaming pearls of her style wisdom on ThisNext.com, shopcasting network where great products get discovered based on members’ recommendations. She is also a What to Buy Expert Contributor on Momtastic, a new women-aimed web portal that blends original editorial and blogger-produced content.

We had the opportunity to ask Julia a few questions about Boys Be Cool, fashion, and more. She has some great advice for all of you, so keep reading!

What made you want to start Boys Be Cool?

The dire situation of the boys’ fashion or the total lack of thereof had triggered the creation of this site. Boys Be Cool is a unique and one of a kind style & shopping resource where boys rule and style conscious parents get the valuable information on what to buy, where to find unique, awesome and affordable duds for their boys and how to style the most dapper and hippest outfits. Boys Be Cool covers new clothing lines for boys, the latest boys’ fashion trends and seasonal collections from the most influential high and low-end boys’ fashion players, the most buzz-worthy, boys-oriented products and services that fit the following all-important criteria: unique style and budget-friendly prices. Because, it IS possible to dress your boy like star and you don’t need to be a celebrity to afford it!

Boys Be Cool is supplemented by the Facebook daily stream of the hottest deals, coolest promotions and stylish finds delivered right at your fingertips, all with the BBC style seal of approval. BBC will never recommend or rave about a product or a line that is not 100% WOW or OMG! material.
Quoting one of the parents “The boys’ market seems sorely lacking– until you meet BBC!”

What are some boys trends that you see for spring and summer?

The Biggest and the HOTTEST yet though not necessarily newest trend you will be seeing everywhere is COLOR! After years of slow inching into our boys’ wardrobes the color had finally made it big, popping up literally everywhere. This Crayola fest had not left a single brand untouched and all we can say – go for it! Color block, pair bold colors with bold patterns, tame bold patterns with muted solids, experiment with pastels and jewel toned colors. Little boys can get away with a lot more than you think. Let them express their flamboyant personalities and don’t even get us started on this pink/purple issue. Pleeease!

Other hot trends that are less visible due to the mass obsession with color are the Bermuda shorts, lovely stripes of all kinds, art prints paired with interesting patterns and LITE DENIM! Chambray shirts are so amazingly versatile – it’s borderline witch craft! Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

Fashion is in my blood. I LOVE fashion and follow a gazillion of fashion blogs and resources. I read certain fashion magazines, follow children’s fashion industry resources and constantly on a lookout to discover new and exciting brands and products. I keep an eye on European, Australian, Japanese/South Korean fashion as these are definitely hotbeds of the innovative and creative designs. Children’s fashion is definitely a reflection of the adult fashion trends. Major trends trickle down to the kids fashion realm almost immediately and the way designers style their collections and fashion blogosphere ideas are absolutely applicable in the kids’ fashion. You just have to translate this big fashion language to the mini fashion slang, so to speak;)

What advice would you give to parents shopping for young boys?

Follow Boys Be Cool, naturally! From my conversations with boys’ parents I can safely conclude that the majority of parents have NO clue about all the shopping resources at their fingertips and actually in the very close proximity. Most of them don’t really care, unfortunately – hence the sad picture of borderline homeless looking boys throughout the country regardless of the families financial standing. Many of them are unaware that H&M in their local mall carries kids’ clothes. Yes! For a start following an inspirational style centric resource will gently guide you through all the shopping channels and we don’t look down on Target, God forbid! High and low mix is one of the keys to success. Following high end deals sites like http://www.newdaynewdeals.com/ that track all the deal-icios developments on the best brands will take a lot of work out of revamping your kids’ closet.
Don’t look away from more expensive pieces. A lot of them are perfectly unisex and timeless, such as colorful and patterned blazers for instance. They could be worn by girls and boys alike and great quality will ensure safe passing down to the next generation. Invest in brands with the high resell value. Yes! Resell is hot! Giving away clothes is wonderful but these extra dollars will definitely help with next size shopping. Buy ahead! Boutiques’ seasonal sales are the treasure troves of the highly coveted high end clothes sold at bottom lime prices. Snatch whatever you can, they will GROW into it, this is what the kids do.

We hope that you take the time to check out Boys Be Cool and that you love them as much as we do!
